Learn how to simulate motion very easy, starting from a static image, using motion blur and layer mask.

1. First open the image.

2. In the layer palette, create a copy of the Background layer(right click the layer and select “Duplicate Layer”)

3. Left click the new layer, and go to Filters >> Blur >> Motion Blur. I used the settings below, but you can choose others if you like.

4. Now, with the blurred layer selected, click on the “Add Layer Mask” button on the bottom of the layers palette.

5. Then select a brush, use black colour(the black brush acts as eraser) and begin drawing on the part of the image you want to remain static(in my example on the front of the car). Here is how your photo should look like.
